"Move Over" Oil Painting

An artist will draw or paint what moves them from feelings generated deep within themselves out of the seat of motivation. In life, events effect the thoughts of an artists mind and these mental thoughts travel down into the heart. At times a strong motivating thoughts will grow and linger until there is a visual release for all to see with artist oil paints on an artist canvas. This is a painting of one of those motivating feelings to draw and paint.

The end result of this painting is questionable. It depends on the people that will view this painting for years to come. Will these people interpret or sense the message being illustrated so that when they come upon a situation that they are involuntary reminded to act, do they do so?

This is a public service art work of which I have done similar ones of in the past. It is to motivate people and also to say thank you to individuals for what work they voluntarily have taken upon themselves to do. This web page will contain a history of the drawing and oil painting in progress.

01.02.2009 Canvas Preparation

Artist canvas chosen for this oil painting is a medium texture cotton duck at a size of twenty four inches high and forty eight inches wide. Because the finished texture of my paintings is light I like to brush a layer of thinned down white onto the canvas. I've noticed on some of my paintings that when a light is shining from behind them the painting becomes noticeably transparent. Painting a layer of thinned white paint needs to be done some days ahead of time of when you intend to begin painting. A layer of base oil paint needs some time to evenly dry on the canvas before beginning the actual painting.
